ANNOUNCING DOMINIC FRONGILLO AS KEYNOTE SPEAKER AT THE NORTH COUNTRY FOOD DAY YOUTH SUMMIT

Dominic Frongillo is going to be the keynote speaker at this year's North Country Food Day Youth Summit, a biennial event put on by GardenShare. Dominic Frongillo made history by becoming the youngest person ever elected to the Town Council in Caroline, New York, and served as one of the youngest Deputy Town Supervisors in New York State. Internationally recognized for his work on clean energy, Frongillo is a five-time delegate to the United Nations climate negotiations, is trained by Vice President Al Gore as Climate Reality Presenter, and served under Governor David Paterson helping create New York's 2050 Climate Action Plan.  In 2012, when fracking for gas threatened the state, Frongillo co-founded Elected Officials to Protect New York, a bipartisan initiative of 850 officials from all 62 counties to keep fracking out of the state, contributing to New York’s 2014 statewide ban on fracking. Currently based in Freiburg, Germany’s Green City, Frongillo serves cities in attracting investment for sustainable development projects with Thomas Daily, and is a director of Black Oak Wind Farm, New York’s first community-owned wind farm.

This Youth Summit, which will take place at SUNY Potsdam on Thursday October 22nd, invites high schools from the North Country and Adirondack region to participate in workshops focused around agriculture, nutrition, and food security. In addition to his keynote, Frongillio will lead a workshop focused on leadership and change making skills. Other workshops include food careers, nutritious snacks, and school gardens.
